Relaxing naps in the shade of an olive tree, warm summer evenings, family hikes through the beautiful countryside…
No one doubts that summer offers a time-out from the hectic schedule of the rest of the year. An ideal moment to relax and re-connect with the essentials: your imagination!
For a timeless creative moment, download the three summer scenes that we have dreamed up in collaboration with the illustrator, Ambre Verschaeve. There is plenty to do to take full advantage of the benefits of colouring.
What are the health benefits of colouring?
Colouring is the anti-stress activity par excellence. Regardless of your age, the benefits of this activity are manifold.
Among other things, it helps you:
- relax
- calm your fears
- nurture your creative streak
- express your emotions on paper
- regulate your heartbeat significantly
- maintain the mobility of your arms and hands
- stimulate the development of both hemispheres of the brain: logic (left) and creativity (right)
What media should you use to colour in?
There are a thousand and one colouring techniques. It all depends on the medium you choose and the means of applying it. You can even combine them to obtain surprising results.
Colouring with colour pencils:
No surprise here: colour pencils are the most commonly used colouring medium. They are powerful creative tools ideal for every generation, young and old alike. Depending on their composition, be it with oil or wax, and their pigmentation quality, the way in which you apply them is very different. Above all, we advise that you choose good quality pencils.
f you prefer hard leads, opt for Prismalo® Aquarelle which guarantees outstanding precision and application finesse. Supracolor® Soft, on the other hand, will be a firm favourite with amateurs of softer leads. Some pencils, such as Luminance, leave a generous trace on the paper, making the colours extremely bright
Colouring with fibre-tipped pens :
In contrast to colour pencils, the liquid ink placed on the paper via the tip of a fibre-tipped pen offers an attractive uniformity when applying colours. To enhance your colouring, opt for fine, relatively supple tips offering you the possibility of varying the intensity of the ink applied and of colouring areas that are less accessible.
As a versatile tool, we recommend our range of Fibralo® fibre-tipped pens. The bright, vibrant colours can be applied both dry and mixed with water. To create watercolour effects with Fibralo® Brush fibre-tipped pens, use the damp tip directly on the paper or create effects after application using our brush with water chamber! Just a few drops of water are enough to create a transparent effect in the blink of an eye.
Colouring with wax oil pastels:
While fibre-tipped pens and colour pencils are the most commonly used colouring tools, wax oil pastels promise an unrivalled colouring experience. Their strong pigment concentration ensures a velvety and complete end result boasting powerful shades.
To get started on your colouring adventure with wax oil pastels, opt for our Neocolor® range! It guarantees even colours, uniform expanses and unique overlays and blends of shades. The dry application of the Neocolor® I wax oil pastels can be combined with the water-soluble Neocolor® II.
Regardless of the medium you choose to use, the most important thing is to unleash your creative streak! We would love to see your creations. Feel free to share them on the social networks using our hashtag #Carandache and mentioning @carandache.
