L’Esprit des Alpes

Exploring personal creative paths

Caran d’Ache offers its followers an initiation to the contemplative experience of colouring. Firmly committed to supporting young talent, the Geneva-based Maison invites Swiss illustrator, Julie Petter to reveal a legendary artistic theme evocatively named “L’Esprit des Alpes” (Spirit of the Alps).

The 25 pages in the “L’Esprit des Alpes” book offer a wide audience the chance to enjoy a creative break, an artistic initiation and an introspective journey. These 25 “canvases” are an invitation to explore the enchanting world of the Swiss mountains, illustrating Alpine symbolism, its vast landscapes and the animals that live in the rocks and forests. The sensitivity of the lines reflects the wonderment experienced by the artist before the beauty of nature and draws its inspiration from the traditional art of paper-cutting.

Julie Petter has had a special history with Caran d’Ache since her early childhood. Her artist father taught her to draw with her very first colour pencils. “I grew up with Caran d’Ache” the young artist tells us. “I am very lucky to have the opportunity to work as an illustrator with the Maison today. I wanted to leverage tradition to help people discover the poetry of Swiss Alpine landscapes.”

The art paper in “L’Esprit des Alpes” colouring book is perfectly suited to using a vast range of Caran d’Ache colours. A technical guide comes with the book, accompanied by a large-format poster for “colouring mountaineers”!

“L’Esprit des Alpes” is available as colouring book for adults, pad of 12 colouring postcards as well as gift box set “Art Therapy”.
