Caran d’Ache 1915

The Maison Caran d'Ache, since 1915

The Maison Caran d’Ache and the enamelling artist Andrée Peaudecerf create a collection of five unique writing instruments: the Collection Privée. Four miniature enamelled paintings on the solid gold body of the fountain pens pay tribute to Geneva’s humanitarian, scientific and artistic identity, as well as to the bicentenary of its joining the Swiss Confederation. A fifth piece celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Maison Caran d’Ache.

Caran d’Ache 1915

The history of the Maison Caran d’Ache has combined the values of technical excellence and extensive aesthetic research since its very beginnings. Created in 1915, under the name of the “Fabrique genevoise de crayons” (Geneva Pencil Factory), it was renamed Caran d’Ache in 1924 in tribute to a famous French cartoonist, Emmanuel Poiré. Over the years, the Maison has acquired a priceless value: shared emotions with lovers of colour and beautiful writing.

100 years of creation and emotions, luminous colours and refined shapes which give rise to the pleasure of writing, drawing and painting… 100 years of sharing and creative inspiration which have shaped a unique company with exceptional know-how. In this way, nurtured by a rich history, Caran d’Ache creations have for a century represented constantly renewed sources of inspiration for generations of passionate fans.
