CARAN D'ACHE AND PAINT A SMILE
A COLLABORATION FULL OF COLOUR

Since 2008, Caran d’Ache has been a partner of the Paint a Smile Foundation, which has set itself the goal of bringing a little colour to medical institutions through colourful murals and installations in order to brighten up the daily lives of the patients.

Throughout its history, Caran d’Ache has been keen to support both local and international associations and organisations. We are proud to have been a partner of Paint a Smile since 2008. The Foundation uses all its creativity to cheer up hospitalised children, handicapped people in institutions and senior citizens in retirement homes. The artists called on by Paint a Smile transform the sometimes impersonal surroundings of medical institutions into a cheerful, comforting world full of colour. For each project, the themes are chosen and adapted on site by the artists and the medical teams. The amusing and colourful subjects become pedagogical, completing an approach that is intended to be therapeutic.

Every year, Caran d’Ache provides the Paint a Smile teams with several hundred litres of acrylic paint to create these large-scale murals. In recent years, thanks to the colours of Caran d’Ache, Paint a Smile has decorated the walls of numerous medical institutions throughout Europe such as the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), the Necker hospital in Paris and the hospital of the city of Kiel, Germany.
