Caran d’Ache cookies policy

This Caran d’Ache cookies policy (hereinafter “the Cookies Policy”) outlines the various types of cookies used on the Caran d’Ache digital platforms (e.g. e-shops) that are controlled by Caran d’Ache SA.

The Cookies Policy is a complement to the Caran d’Ache Confidentiality Policy (hereinafter the Confidentiality Policy), which you should read if you have any questions concerning how Caran d’Ache processes your personal data.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small file made up of letters and numbers, which is downloaded by the internet browser on your computer, tablet or smartphone. It can be used to record information about how you use our digital platforms to ensure that they work well, to improve your browsing experience, and to analyse your usage data for statistical or marketing purposes.

The cookies that we use

We use a range of cookies on our digital platforms, which have different purposes and last for different lengths of time. A list of them can be found below. Some cookies are specific to Caran d’Ache and are referred to as “proprietary cookies”. These make it easier for you to browse our digital platforms, or they may collect statistical and behavioural data. Other cookies used on our digital platforms are created by other sites and are referred to as “third-party cookies”. The data recorded in proprietary cookies is not sent outside of our digital platforms, whereas data collected by third-party cookies is sent to the other websites that created them, generally for statistical or advertising purposes. The data collected by third-party cookies is processed exclusively by the external websites in question and in line with their own confidentiality policies.

Functional cookies are proprietary cookies that are needed for our digital platforms to work. They allow you to benefit from certain content and services that we provide, or activate specific functions on our digital platforms, such as giving you product recommendations.

Analytical cookies can be proprietary cookies or third-party cookies. They generate statistical information on how you use our digital platforms, such as the content you view and how you browse the site.

Advertising cookies are third-party cookies designed to provide you with personalised ads on social networks or other websites you visit. The ads you see will be based on the choices you have made and preferences you have indicated on our digital platforms.

Social media cookies are third-party cookies (e.g. Facebook or Instagram) that allow you to interact with the corresponding social network via our digital platforms.

Opting in to the activation and use of cookies

Functional cookies do not require an opt-in, as these are crucial for our digital platforms to work properly. However, analytical cookies, advertising cookies and social media cookies will only be activated and used when you browse our digital platforms if you have opted in.

You can manage your preferences concerning the activation and use of the various cookies by clicking the relevant buttons in the banner that is displayed at the bottom of the homepage when you first visit one of our digital platforms. If you do not make any selections, we will not use any cookies except for functional cookies, which do not require your consent. However, after a few minutes you will be invited to choose which of the optional cookies – if any – you wish to opt-in to in order to continue using our digital platforms. You can update your preferences at any time by clicking on the button in the bottom left of each page you visit.

Changing cookies settings

As well as managing your cookies preferences for our digital platforms, you can also configure your browser to reject all cookies or specific cookies, or to warn you when sites are using cookies.

If you would like to know how to change your cookies settings in your web browser, see below for the relevant link for the browser you use.
