Les Fulgureuses: the new collection by Caran d’Ache + Kevin Germanier
CARAN D’ACHE + KÉVIN GERMANIER: LES FULGUREUSES, AN OUTBURST OF DARING AND COLOUR
When writing meets fashion, what arises is a collaboration that is as unexpected as it is inspiring. In 2025, Caran d’Ache partnered up with the fashion designer Kévin Germanier, a rising star of Haute Couture, to imagine Les Fulgureuses, a Special Edition collection which boldly breaks with tradition: vibrant colours, jewel-like finishes and a commitment to environmental sustainability.
The 849™ range of pens in neon colours, Ecridor™ pens engraved like jewellery, sets of creative pencils and exceptional pieces… Every instrument is conceived as a work of art in its own right. Discover this Special Edition unique collection, the result of a daring union between contemporary design and exceptional savoir faire.
WHEN HAUTE COUTURE MEETS SWISS PRECISION
The partnership between Caran d’Ache and the fashion designer Kévin Germanier is not down to chance. It is deeply rooted in the designer’s childhood memories which were lit up with the colours of the renowned Swiss writing Maison. In early 2025, a first upcycled piece presented during the Paris Fashion Week had already made an impression: a dress made with the Maison’s used pens and pencils that had been retrieved and transformed. Following this success, the collaboration between these two artistic universes continues today with Les Fulgureuses, a collection imagined by both Maisons hand in hand.
The common thread of this partnership? A signature bead motif, imagined by Germanier in 2018 and today reinterpreted with all of Caran d’Ache’s technical know-how. This common vision of art, design and innovation has brought about unique writing instruments which embody the perfect balance between Haute Couture, durability and audacity. Far from being merely a stylistics exercise, Les Fulgureuses is a celebration of an authentic and creative dialogue between two Maisons driven by excellence.
LES FULGUREUSES COLLECTION: AT THE CROSSROADS OF ART AND FASHION
Neon colours, beads and holographic reflections are the watchwords of this exclusive collection. Les Fulgureuses brings together several iconic Caran d’Ache instruments, all re-imagined in designer Kévin Germanier’s flamboyant world.
The classic 849™ pens in neon versions with beaded patterns
At the heart of this collection are the classic 849™ ballpoint pens, available in either neon pink or neon green, sporting a complex beaded pattern which is directly inspired by the designer’s fashion. On the side opposite the clip, the GERMANIER signature affirms the object’s uniqueness. These pens are also available as ∅ 0,5 mm mechanical pencils that come with a push button and integrated eraser. All these are delivered in holographic metal cases that are both long-lasting and portable.
The Ecridor™ pen: a jewel of a writing instrument
Another key piece: the Ecridor™ Germanier ballpoint pen, a shining jewel of elegance and precision. Its hexagonal brass body has a platinum-plated finish and is decorated with guilloche work inspired by bead-weaving. The push-button is topped with a holographic glass crystal, and an area can be personalised with a name or initials. It comes in a neon yellow leather case made from upcycled materials from luxury fashion houses, an acknowledgement of Germanier’s commitment to upcycling.
The Colour Set: a Kévin Germanier palette to free your creativity
Lastly, the collection includes the Les Fulgureuses Colour Set: 13 coloured pencils personally selected by the designer. Among these you’ll find:
• 4 neon colours as a nod to the 849™ pens,
• 4 bright metallic colours,
• 5 water-soluble pencils that match the pens’ patterns.
The special extra? Each set grants access to an online Creative Class with Kévin Germanier that allows you to dive into his artistic universe with a fashion sketching workshop.
THE EXCEPTIONAL PIECES: WHEN HAUTE ECRITURE BECOMES HAUTE COUTURE
Together, Caran d’Ache and Kévin Germanier are pushing back the boundaries of creativity and have completed this collection with the Exceptional Pieces. True works of art, these very limited editions embody artisanal luxury and the interaction between writing and fashion with a decidedly Haute Couture approach.
Among these, the Varius Haute Ecriture writing instrument stands out by its refinement: 528 crystals are individually set by hand and it is crowned with a semi-precious gem. This jewel of a pen comes with a pouch and a hand-woven beaded bag, an emblematic piece from the designer’s artistic universe.
Another reinterpretation of an iconic piece: the Caran d’Ache Sharpening machine which has been reinvented as a sculptural masterpiece with a thousand hand-set crystals. Now more than a fine arts technical object, it becomes a contemporary piece of art, at the crossroads of technical performance and elegance.
Finally, the coloured pencil wooden box set also becomes a work of art. Set with over 1500 hand-woven beads, it contains 120 colour pencils engraved with the GERMANIER logo.
Every Exceptional Piece comes in three vibrant colour palettes meticulously selected by Kévin Germanier. Every detail underlines the project’s ambition: sublimate everyday objects with Haute Couture.
These nine unique pieces will be put up for auction, an exclusive opportunity for collectors to acquire a piece that brings together design, fashion and exceptional artisanal skill.
A COMMITTED AND INSPIRING COLLECTION
Beyond its daring aesthetics, the Les Fulgureuses collection carries a strong message: bringing together luxury and sustainability, a commitment shared by Caran d’Ache and Kévin Germanier who campaigns for a responsible artistic approach that changes with the times.
This translates as carefully considered choices:
• the leather used for the pouches is sourced from dormant stocks,
• the inserts are made from recyclable paper,
• the re-usable metal boxes are designed to last.
By bringing together the Swiss rigour of Caran d’Ache and the ecologically responsible audacity of Kévin Germanier, Les Fulgureuses goes far beyond the scope of a product collaboration: it is an artistic statement, where every piece in the collection becomes an embodiment of style, colour and commitment.
