Caran d’Ache medium used: Grafwood
Diego Fazio, known in the artworld as DiegoKoi, was born in Lamezia Terme, Italy in 1989. He emerged as a self-taught artist, quickly developing a precise and refined technique and started off drawing tattoos in a Japanese style. He developed his technique over time, rediscovering the elegance and beauty within every shade, moving away from the rougher outlines of tattoos to concentrate on hyperrealism. His passion lies in drawing the human form and giving it a strong personal touch, expressed within each subject through carefully crafted lines giving rise to compact and elastic figures, supported by the shading and imagination of the artist and placing the work somewhere between the real and unreal. DiegoKoi quickly achieved international success, winning many prizes and featuring in many exhibitions all over the world (New York, Paris, Daejeon, Singapore…).
“For someone who draws as many hours a day as I do, the tools of the trade are everything, which is why I use grafwood caran d’ache. What I like most about them is the premium quality of the graphite, I love the greyish effect they have and I love giving my clients a work that will last. I also like the thickness of the lead and it’s amazing durability. I have used other brands and seen how fragile the softer pencils can be, you don’t get that with caran d’ache.”
