Secret Journey I: Voltaire - 18th century
« I owe my happiest days to this city»
Travelling back to the 18th century on the northern shore of the lake, we discover the city of Lausanne in the company of Voltaire. The first part of the trilogy, Secret Journey I, showed the story of an author who, captivated by Lausanne, wrote I owe my happiest hours to this city. Secret Journey I honours this era and the dominant figure in the Century of Light with these magnificent writing instruments – 300 fountain pens with 30 included in the Secret Journey Trilogy and 150 roller pens - which every detail reveals a little bit of the personality of this recognized and iconic writer. The enjoyable time he spent in Lausanne is immortalised in a quotation ingeniously concealed on the body of the pen. Also hidden away is a diamond, symbolising the principles defended by Voltaire during the Century of Light. It indicates the city of Lausanne on an 18th century map of Lac Léman executed in fine engravings and subtle images in black lacquer on the silver-plated, platinum-coated body of the pen.
